A huge international kids' book fair is coming to Shanghai next month

In need of some book inspiration for the kids? In less than a month, the China Shanghai International Children's Book Fair (CCBF) is coming again for the seventh edition. A vibrant, comprehensive platform for the children's publishing community, CCBF will start from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 November, and it will take place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre. This year not only will there be over 400 top publishers from 30 countries and territories attending the fair but also seminars and exhibitions for attendees of all ages. So despite it being a trade fair, families and kids are welcome with open arms. Plus, they'll have the chance to line their bookshelves with new plenty of new titles.

Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition

For the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition, 50 finalists were picked out from 1,999 illustrators from 72 countries who entered their work for the competition. The 50 finalists will exhibit their illustrations during the CCBF, and you can take part in voting for a winner for the People's Choice Award. On November 8, Golden Pinwheel will release all the finalists' artworks on its official website, and everyone will have the opportunity to vote for a finalist. Pop-up Show: The Magic Inside Books

Pop-up show: The Magic inside Books is one of the featured exhibits this year. It'll showcase the history of pop-ups and transformable books, all of which will be selected from one of the largest collections of pop-ups in the world. Attendees will also be able to find classics like Pinocchio and other, more recent titles.

Children+ Art, Architecture and Design

Children+ Art, Architecture and Design is another special exhibit for this year's CCBF that will mainly focus on the life and the work of past and current artists, art, architecture and design. These books will not only be beautiful on the outside but also the inside. Their primary purpose is to help inform kids' aesthetic taste by using elegant writing and high-value illustrations.

Shanghai Visiting International Publishers Programme (SHVIP)

Similarly to the fair, SHVIP is also running for a seventh edition. This year the fellowship group will include 12 publishing company representatives who will bring innovative and original catalogues, of which many will be presented for the first time in China. Visitors can also attend the SHVIP book presentation at The Light Space Xinhua Book Store from 6.30-8pm on Thursday, 14th November.
