Heavy rains and wind at the start of Golden Week

Whip out your umbrellas, folks. There may be hundreds of millions travelling during the start of the Golden Week holiday, but if you’re staying here in Shanghai, we’ve got some news for you – SHINE reports that heavy rains and strong winds are on the way due to a typhoon passing through.

Tue 1 and Wed 2 are the moments of truth, with heavy rain and winds around 90kmh expected downtown and rising water levels on the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek. Flood prevention authorities will be inspecting areas like Xintiandi, Nanjing Dong Lu, construction sites and underground areas.
