Now’s the time to end the stigma against mental health issues, and there are two organisations teaming up to help you be a part of the movement. Again this year, Unravel is collaborating with mental health helpline service Lifeline for a special event – Lifeline x Unravel: Lived Experiences
– on Thursday 10 October to celebrate World Mental Health Day. For those who want to show their support, this one's for you.
Through the event, which will be hosted by the Australian Consulate General, Unravel and Lifeline hope to share stories of lived experiences of mental health illness and the impact they've had on storytellers' lives.
'We [at Unravel] have been long-time supporters of Lifeline and the amazing work they do in this city and across China to support the community and fight stigmas and silence so often associated with mental health issues and illnesses,' said Clara Davis, Unravel's founder.
Lifeline is an English-language telephone hotline staffed by trained volunteers that offers free, confidential and anonymous emotional support from 10am-10pm, 365 days a year. To talk to someone at Lifeline, call 400 821 1215 or visit its website
for more info.
Unravel is a platform where people can impact others and make connections through the power of stories. It organises monthly storytelling events and has previously worked with organisations to raise awareness and support communities such as ShanghaiPRIDE
and Green Initiatives.
Entry for Lifeline x Unravel: Lived Experiences is 150RMB with two drinks and snacks included. All profits from the event will go to Lifeline, which also holds events from time to time that focus on helping people in need of mental or social support.
