edc, Midi, Strawberry, Unravel, FEAST, Pendulum and more

Deadmau5 is at edc this weekend
Another week and another seven days of great stuff to do in the build up to the public holiday. There's a bumper line-up of music festivals with Strawberry, Midi and edc all taking place, while rooftop food festival FEAST returns for another year. There's also more wonderful storytelling from Unravel, as well as big-name Australian drum 'n' bass act Pendulum doing a DJ set at Arkham. So, yeah, a steady week ahead. Read on for our full list of picks of the best things to do.

At Foogly, three Spanish chefs (Pol Garcia, Alex Molina and Ferrán Edo) are coming together to address the contradictory global problem of hunger and food wastage by demonstrating how to cook with 'ugly' ingredients – high-quality food but without the unblemished look that modern supermarkets require. Unused food from the event will be donated to a homeless shelter along with a cooking demo.

Weirdly, edc allows one of its biggest headliners to play a club show the same weekend. It's a DJ set admittedly, but still, Australian act Pendulum will be heading into Arkham for a big night of emo drum 'n' bass courtesy of SHFT.

Isle of Dogs

An ensemble cast (Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Jeff Goldblum) voices very good boys (dogs) helping a Japanese boy find his lost good boy. With director Wes Anderson doing his usual auteur thing, this movie will ooze his signature tone of playful wit blurred with straight-faced drama and sentimentality. The stop-motion animation will definitely tip the scales towards the former.
