COVID-19 testing is now required for all international arrivals to Shanghai

The city's stepping up its efforts to control the influx of the disease from abroad

Though the number of newly reported COVID-19 cases in China isn’t nearly what it used to be when the outbreak first began, Shanghai still isn’t playing around when it comes to prevention measures. With the number of imported COVID-19 cases now nearing 500, Shanghai is stepping up its efforts to control the influx of the disease from abroad.

SHINE reports that as of Monday 23 all incoming arrivals are now required to undergo testing for COVID-19. Originally, this policy only applied to select countries that had been heavily hit by the virus (regardless of the individual’s nationality), but now the policy applies to any and all arrivals. Shanghai’s Health Commission has sent nurses to assist customs officers with the process of taking samples.
