After rolling through Los Angeles, New York, Sao Paulo and Paris, adidas Skateboarding's year-long global skate party/tour Das Days is making its final stop of 2018 in Shanghai this weekend – just in time for some of the most glorious skating weather of the year. From Friday 12 through Saturday 20 October, we're in for nine days of skating, screenings, exhibitions, exclusive launches, limited-edition wares and more.
Things kick off on Friday 12 at the Das Days Community Center – a pop-up space at BaseCo (on Anfu Lu), serving as the festival's central hub – with Showcase X, a group art exhibit displaying the works of up-and-coming artists and creatives within the local skating community.
On Saturday (October 13), it's all about the City Copa Skate Jam out at Qibao plaza – a full day of skating (for registered riders only, but spectators welcome) with members of adidas Skateboarding's visiting global team, featuring names like Dennis Busenitz, Benny Fairfax, Diego Najera, Jack Fardell, Mariah Duran and Rodrigo TX.
Then, in the evening, things kick up a notch with the House Party at Yuyintang (formerly the International Cassette Store Day bash) with an impressive local lineup of Yehaiyahan (the artist also known as ChaCha and Faded Ghost) showing off her latest set, crazy saxophonist Gao Jiafeng
, Shanghai alt-rockers Dahlia Rosea and chaotic punk rockers Dirty Fingers.
The Das Days Community Center itself will be open daily through October 20 (from 11am-7pm) with a lounge/video/gaming area, coffee and breakfast by Breton-style galette slingers RAC Coffee and a Fly Streetwear pop-up store selling limited-edition wares. Plus, throughout the week it'll play host to a few low-key events open to the public, including a skate trivia night on Tuesday 16 and skate movie night on Wednesday 17 (with free popcorn).
