Here's what around 500+ million tourists during Golden Week looks like

Hint: it involves some crazy crowds

Before Golden Week kicked off, forecasts were predicting that around 700 million people would be travelling domestically through the break (that's more than half the population of China and two times the population of the USA). A prediction that seems to be on track, as Xinhua reports that The Ministry of Culture and Tourism cited 502 million domestic travellers within the first four days of the holiday alone. So, really, it's no surprise that the week saw some insane crowds all across the country.

Here's how it went down at some of the country's most popular tourist spots in pictures (it's going to be a nightmare photoshopping strangers out of these holiday snaps).
