Another
protected unit of the cultural monuments and relics of the Hongkou district is
this former site of American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). During
World War II, the Committee set up a branch office here which then became the key
international organization supporting Jewish refugees, with most of the rescue
funds coming from this committee.
